The LSD pictured in the instructions below is the actual LSD used in the following test resuls. We started with a zenki o.e.m. unit that was in good working order. The intital torque readings were taken before disassembly. We made special tooling, which allows one side gear to be held stationary, while the opposing side gear is rotated using a dial type torque wrench. The reading obtained is the actual torque value it takes to make the clutch plates slip within the LSD. Keep in mind, this is a static load test, there is no force being applied by the clutch members, also called pressure rings. Under dynamic loads (actual use in the car) the clutch members are forced apart, applying additional clamping force to the clutches. We are very excited about the final results and did not expect to get this high of an increase in torque. If you have not seen the post on the MAXGRIP LSD kit by Weir Performance here's the link: http://www.hachiroku.net/forums/show...974#post145974
Torque reading before rebuild @ 8 ft.lbs.
Torque reading after rebuild, with the MAXGRIP kit installed, just over 15 ft.lbs. That is an increase of 46% more torque!
